Salina South’s Caleb Copeland – Leader of the Month Presented by First Bank Kansas

Senior and three-sport athlete Caleb Copeland from Salina South is off to an excellent start this season on the mat. Copeland has two first place wins, a second place finish and a fourth place finish this season.

“I’m always working hard in the wrestling room to be better each weekend,” said Copeland.

The senior, also a baseball and football player, enjoys all of his teammates no matter the sport. In the wrestling room, Copeland said he is really close with his teammates.

“I love how much we support each other and close we are even outside of wrestling, we always are going out to eat as a team after tournaments and hanging out,” said Copeland.

Also a member of FCA, Copeland places a high priority on academics.

“Academics are important to me especially since I’m wanting to go to college and grades have to be good to be accepted into schools. I would either like to wrestle and/or play baseball in college and my goal is to become a teacher/coach,” said Copeland.

Copeland said his father is a huge influence in his life. Not only is he his father, but he’s also the coach.

“When I was about to start high school he took the job as the assistant wrestling coach, with out this I wouldn’t be pushed my hardest each and every day. At times it may stink having your dad as a coach but it has pushed me to be the best I can.”
