State Golf Recap Presented By WSU Tech

Class 4A 

Individuals 

McPherson junior Trakker French finished fifth with a score of 155. 

Buhler senior Logan Day finished sixth with a score of 156. 

Team standings 

Clay Center finished seventh. 

Class 3A 

Individuals 

Southeast of Saline junior Dylan Esch finished fourth with a score of 148. 

Class 2A 

Individuals 

Salina Sacred Heart junior Michael Matteucci won the state championship after shooting 139. 

Salina Sacred Heart sophomore Luke Newell finished third with a score of 147. 

Salina Sacred Heart junior Walker Tuttle tied fourth with a score 153. 

Team standings 

Salina Sacred Heart made history becoming the first team to win eight golf titles in a row. 

“Team was very confident going into the two day state meet.  We opened up an 18 shot lead after the first day so it gave us some breathing room.  We then outscored the other teams by 26 on day two to win by a total of 44 strokes for the two days,” coach Patrick Newell said. 

Salina Sacred Heart returns everyone as they try for number nine next year. 

Class 1A

Individuals 

Solomon junior Spencer Coup won the state championship with a score of 154.
