Class 6A girls

Topeka will play SM Northwest in Saturday’s title game.

Topeka 54, Dodge City 37

Nijaree Canady and Kiki Smith combined for 11 points and the 13-4 lead with 2:17 to go in the first. Topeka led 13-8 after one.

Topeka built its lead to 25-8, but Dodge City found its offense.

Topeka hasn’t hit a field goal over the last four minutes, but has a 26-18 lead over Dodge City with 1:00 to go in the second.

Topeka has three starters with three fouls in the second quarter.

At the half, Topeka had a 28-22 lead.

Canady had 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting in the first half.

In the first quarter, Dodge City was 2 of 8 from the field with five turnovers. The Demons’ made a run, hitting 5 of 11 field goals and only turning it over once.

With 3:59 to go, Dodge City took time, trailing 44-34. Canady with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

Canady finished with 29 and 14. Tae Thomas scored nine points, including six on free throws in the fourth quarter.

Becca Unruh and Camree Johnson each had nine points for Dodge City.

SM Northwest 59, Olathe West 45

SM Northwest built a 17-2 lead in the first quarter.

SM Northwest’s Kennedy Taylor had 19 points at the half as she helped lead the Cougars to a 33-12 lead. She shot 9 of 10 from the field and had 13 first-half rebounds.

Taylor finished with 23 points and 19 rebounds in 21 minutes of play. She hit 11 of 12 field goals, including a three-pointer. Ella Machiewicz added 12 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

SM Northwest’s Kylie Dunn also had four steals, while Saige Grampsas had seven assists.

Olathe West’s Jordyn Wilson had 12 points.

Class 5A boys

Topeka West will play Maize in Saturday’s title game.

Topeka West 61, DeSoto 57

Elijah Brooks hit a three-pointer to end the first quarter and give DeSoto the 25-17 lead over Topeka West.

Topeka West opened the second with an 8-2 run to get within 27-25 of DeSoto.

Topeka West had a 32-31 lead over DeSoto at the half.

DeSoto’s Tyler Schultze had 11 and the Wildcats have hit 6 of 8 threes. Brooks led Topeka West with 13 and Trevion Alexander had 11.

Heading into the fourth quarter, Topeka West and DeSoto are tied at 39.

With three minutes remaining, it was a 50-all tie.

Topeka West with the 56-54 lead with 48 seconds to go.

Maize 74, KC Washington 48

Maize led KC Washington 14-11 through the first quarter.

Keegan Harrod has scored seven points to help give Maize the 25-17 lead midway through the second.

Maize took a 30-19 lead at the half, hitting six three-pointers and finishing the half on a 10-2 run.

Maize’s Winston Bing had nine on 3-of-5 shooting from three. And of the Eagles’ 11 field goals, nine came on assists.

Early in the third, Maize led 39-22.

Maize’s lead was 54-31 heading into the fourth quarter.

By the midpoint of the fourth, Maize had doubled KC Washington — leading 66-33.

Jacob Hanna had a game-high 17 points for Maize, while Winston Bing scored 15 on 5-of-7 shooting from three-point range. Harrod added 14, while Avery Johnson and Jaden Gustafson each had 10. Maize had 21 assists, shot 28 of 54 from the field (51.9%) and outrebounded KC Washington 43-19. Hanna had nine rebounds and five assists, Gustafson seven rebounds and fie assists. Johnson added four blocks.

Trayon Grant scored 16 for KC Washington, and Kyren Angelo 11 and Trayvon Foster 10.

Class 4A girls

McPherson will play Bishop Miege in Saturday’s title game.

McPherson 58, Louisburg 46

Midway through the first quarter, McPherson has a 9-0 lead.

McPherson had a 21-3 lead by the end of the first period.

Louisburg has cut into McPherson’s lead, and trailed 25-12 with 4:37 to go in the second period.

McPherson had a 31-22 lead at the half. Grace Pyle had 15 points.

McPherson took a 43-34 lead into the final period.

Bishop Miege 55, Andale 40

Bishop Miege stretched its lead to 15-4 over Andale through the first.

By halftime, Miege led 35-10.

In the third quarter, Andale more than doubles its first-half scoring, but Miege led 46-22.

Miege’s Payton Verhulst scored a game-high 23 points, while Adrianna Smith had 10.

McKenzie Fairchild and Katelyn Fairchild scored 12 apiece for Andale. Katelyn Fairchild had 10 rebounds and four steals.

Class 3A boys

Galena will play Hesston for the title on Saturday.

Galena 48, Rock Creek 41

Galena took an 11-8 lead after one.

At the half, the score was tied at 20-all.

With 3:45 to go, Galena led 41-39.

Galena’s Tyler Little scored a team-high 16 points, hitting 7 of 10 shots. He also had eight rebounds. Teammate Brett Sarwinski had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Rock Creek was led by Dawson Zenger’s 21 points and Charlie Killingsworth’s 11.

Hesston 64, Thomas More Prep 55

Hesston took a 16-14 lead over Thomas More Prep after the first quarter.

TMP has taken a 27-23 lead with about two minutes remaining in the first half.

But by halftime, after a 7-0 run, Hesston was back on top 30-27. Cason Richardson led the way with 19 first-half points. He shot 7 of 10 from the field, had three assists and three rebounds.

An 8-0 third-quarter run puts Hesston up 40-35 after TMP had a brief lead.

After three, Hesston with the 44-37 lead.

Midway through the fourth, Hesston leads 49-47.

Richardson scored a game-high 36 points, hitting 12-of-18 field goals and 10-of-13 free throws while also getting 10 rebounds and four assists. Nick Arnold had 10 points.

TMP was led by Jackson Schulte’s 23 points, including five threes. Lucas Lang added 14 points, hitting three threes.

Class 2A girls

Pittsburg Colgan will play Sterling for the title on Saturday.

Pittsburg Colgan 40, Valley Heights 38

Colgan took a 10-7 lead after one.

Midway through the second, Colgan had a 23-12 lead after a 13-5 run.

At the four-minute mark of the third, Colgan led 28-27.

After three, Colgan with a 31-29 lead.

Freshman Lily Brown made a buzzer-beater for the win.

Brown finished with 12 points, while teammate Kaitlin Crossland had 11.

Valley Heights’ Emma Yungeberg had 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Sterling 69, Garden Plain 52

Sterling leads Garden Plain 17-13 after the first quarter.

Sterling led 39-32 at the half.

Sterling’s lead was 57-41 after three.

Sterling’s Bennie Horsch scored 23 points, Sadie Beagley 18 and Makenna Linden 13. Horsch also had 10 rebounds, Beagley eight.

GardenPlain’s Alli Puetz scored a team-high 18 points and had four assists. Christia Rose Gorges added four assists and Madelyn Rolfs had 10 points.

Class 1A-I boys

Olpe will play South Gray for the title on Saturday.

Olpe 75, Little River 66

Olpe had an 18-8 lead after one.

Midway through the second, Olpe had extended its lead to 26-8.

At the half, Olpe led 35-20.

Olpe’s Barnard had 11, as did Little River’s Garrison.

After three, Olpe led 52-42.

Jayden Garrison led Little River with 28 points. Olpe shot 63% from the field, (30 of 48).

South Gray 69, Ness City 58

South Gray had an 18-16 lead over Ness City after one.

South Gray extended its lead to 34-21 at the half, with Brady Deges scoring 11.

Heading into the fourth, South Gray led 51-35.

Aaron Skidmore scored 20 to lead South Gray, Deges had 18 and Brent Penner had 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Class 1A-II boys

Elyria Christian will play Hanover in Saturday’s title game.

Elyria Christian 55, Pawnee Heights 42

Pawnee Heights led 9-5 after one.

Elyria Christian led 23-22 at the break.

Elyria Christian had a 34-31 lead after three.

Hanover 85, Northern Valley 58

Hanover leads Northern Valley 25-7 after one.

By the five-minute mark of the second quarter, Hanover led 31-15 and led 47-30 at the half.

Hanover led 69-50 after three.

Hanover’s Blake Hynek had 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Emmitt Jueneman had 22 points, six steals. Jacob Jueneman added 15 points and Keagan Dimler had 13 points, seven rebounds.
