Concordia’s Hunter Schroeder: Wichita Area Outdoors Spotlight – Presented by Commercial Tire

Concordia High School senior Hunter Schroeder loves football and the outdoors. Schroeder said his teammates are his closest friends in and out of school. His love for the outdoors started when he was a young boy fishing with his grandfather.
“I can remember going fishing every summer with my grandpa at a very young age.
Hunting is something that I grew up with, my dad would take me with him and he taught me how to hunt,” said Schroeder. “He would take me with him to sit in the tree stand to deer hunt.”
Over the years, Schroeder said there are two hunts that stand out in his mind as his most memorable trips.
“When I was five years old, I went antelope hunting in Wyoming with my grandpa, dad and honorary uncle. The other was my first fishing trip to Canada with my grandpa and dad when I was twelve years old,” said Schroeder.
His favorite hunting season is duck season when he can take his best friend with him – his yellow lab, Milo. He also enjoys hunting deer, turkey and about any other hunting that allows him to be in the great outdoors. Schroeder is active in the National Wild Turkey Federation chapter at Concordia as a committee member and is also a member of Ducks Unlimited. Taking care of the land is important to Schroeder.
“I want to be able to hunt and fish for a long time and I hope to be able to take my kids and grandkids out hunting and fishing someday, so it is important to take care of our natural resources,” said Schroeder.
The three-sport athlete at Concordia High School spends a lot of his time training Milo when he’s not in practice, at a game or working on his homework. His future plans include attending college and starting a career in construction.
“After high school, I plan to attend college and major in Construction Management. I am still undecided what college I will attend next fall,” said Schroeder.
