Beloit’s Karen Pearson – Salina Ortho Mom of the Month

Karen Pearson is one busy mom. With four active kids, Karen spends a lot of time at their activities where you can usually find her working as a volunteer coach.

“Hanna is a junior in college. Before graduating from Beloit High School in 2020, she was involved in volleyball, track, and competitive dance. Haleigh is a senior this year and is involved in volleyball and softball. Kade is in eighth grade and participates in cross country, wrestling, and track. Katelyn is in sixth grade and is involved in volleyball and competitive dance,” Karen said. “When my kids were younger and in club sports, I assisted in coaching volleyball and softball.”

Having the opportunity to volunteer as a coach was very fulfilling for Karen.

“I enjoy watching the kids grow not only in the sport, but as a whole person. There is so much development that takes place on a team, most of which you carry on with you through your life. Skills such as leadership styles, resilience, teamwork, time management, self-discipline, work ethic, and more,” said Karen. “I believe it is important that kids know there are people who believe in them and who show up for them no matter what. Through sports there are a lot of teachable moments. Being there to experience that with them and discussing those moments are priceless.”
