Wellington’s Aubrey Hunter – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Hutchinson Community College

It was so close for Wellington wrestler Aubrey Hunt last season, as she took third at regionals and then second at state.

Her season was still a huge success, as she had a 37-7 record and 24 pins, with wins at five tournaments and a runner-up at another tournament. But it is easy to see what will make the 2023-2024 season better than last year.

“My personal goal is to win a state title,” Hunt said. “My goal for my team is to take the majority of Wellington High School team to state.”

There were two areas that Hunt thought she needed to improve in order for to reach her goals this season.

“I really wanted to work on my strength and speed, so I took extra strength training from my school and personal trainer,” Hunt said. “I’ve been working with a personal trainer at my local gym and taking a PSQ class at my school.”

While Hunt is looking forward to her individual goals and aspirations, those two things aren’t what she is most excited about.

“I’m excited about going to tournaments with my teammates and watching them win and succeed,” Hunt said.
