SE of Saline’s Reagan Goetz – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Advanced Physical Therapy

By Hayden Swope

Reagan Goetz of Southeast of Saline knew she wanted to make her senior season one to remember. With the Trojans’ successful season, Goetz was voted the Salina Area Girls Basketball Postseason Player.

“The most memorable moment was the first game of the season,” Goetz said. “It was a home game and the lights went out in the middle of our game. We ended up moving our game to Kansas Wesleyan University and finishing it there. I had never experienced anything like that before. It was cool to be able to play on the court where I will be playing in college. It was such a crazy experience, but I will never forget the first game of my senior season.”

With the state championship game on the team’s mind, the Trojans spent all season building up their teamwork and defense.

“Our goal this year was to keep taking those next steps to be the best team we could be,” Goetz said. “We continued to focus on our defense. Our goal is to always be the best defensive team on the floor. Our shots may not have fallen every night, but we could always count on our defense. We also focused on winning the league title again and we won it for the third year in a row. We lost in the substate championship against Phillipsburg. They are a really good team and although we lost, we played our hardest until the end.”

Goetz, a first team all-league player, will continue her basketball career after high school and further her education.

“I plan to attend Kansas Wesleyan University where I will continue my basketball career,” Goetz said. “I will be majoring in Health Science and I plan to go on to PA school to become a Physician Assistant.”
