Southeast of Saline’s Lexi Jacobson already has quite a few accomplishments under her belt. In her first two years of playing high school softball, Jacobson was named an NCAA all-league honorable mention and first team player.
“Being an athlete chosen for this magazine means so much to me,” Jacobson said. “I have worked so hard and have come a long way in my softball career. I have been lucky enough to play ball with the same girls for the past eight years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’m so glad that I get the opportunity to represent Southeast of Saline softball because it is something very special.”
While the spring means it is game-time, Jacobson has been training and playing all year round preparing for the 2023 season.
“Preparing for the softball season is a year round job,” Jacobson said. “I pitch all year long with my pitching coach, Kenny Hancock, and he has helped me improve tremendously over the past five years. My teammates and I play a lot of other sports as well, and competing during volleyball and basketball season makes us even better when softball season comes.”
While Jacobson has made goals for herself, she has also set targets that she hopes the team can accomplish.
“The team goal every year is to make it to state,” Jacobson said. “Not only do we want to make it there, but we also want to go undefeated every night and enter the state match undefeated. Softball is such a team sport, and I want my teammates to know that they can count on me each and every night to do my best.”
Jacobson plans to attend KU and enter their medical school after high school.
“When I graduate in 2024, I currently plan on attending the University of Kansas and following on the ‘pre-physicians assistant’ track,” she said.
