Salina South’s Ally Exline – Athlete Of The Month Presented By Multisports

By Hayden Swope

Ally Exline, a swimmer at Salina South, is involved in multiple extracurriculars at the high school. Exline’s best advice for multisport athletes is to enjoy every second of it.

“My advice for other multisport athletes is to enjoy and appreciate the process and the little victories,” Exline said. “Dividing time to multiple sports means that you have to work extra hard every time you get a chance to practice or train. Recognizing your own hard work and grit is important.”

Making your muscles as flexible as possible is crucial for any swimmer, so that is what Exline wanted to gain over the offseason.

“In the off season I worked on a lot of my weaknesses that I can fix outside the water,” Exline said. “I did a lot of stretching, lifting, and flexibility work to help benefit both swimming and diving.”

With a checklist of goals in the back of her mind, Exline continued to push herself everyday so she can start marking them off.

“I would love to represent South High at the 2023 state meet and place at league,” Exline said. “In practice I hope to become more confident in my swimming and diving ability. I know I have multiple areas to work on and better myself in, and that’s what keeps me motivated.”

With career choices still up in the air, Exline has one big goal for her future.

“I plan to attend Kansas State and either go into education, architecture, or medicine,” Exline said. “I hope in whatever I decide to do that I can help others and somehow impact those around me.”
