Travis Zrubek of Salina Central was looking to be a more consistent bowler this past season and he did just that.
Zrubek had an average of 156, which was the third highest on the Mustangs, while also rolling a high series of 575.
“I would say it was an overall good season for me,” Zrubek said. “I had some of the best games I have ever had this season, and I think I have gotten a lot more consistent with my bowling, too.”
There were some specific mechanics that Zrubek attributes to his marked improvement in consistency.
“I improved my approach and release throughout the year,” Zrubek said. “I am way more balanced, and I have been dropping my shoulder way less, which is the main thing that affects the consistency of my release.”
One of the memories of the season that stood out to Zrubek actually had nothing to do with any of this performances or tournaments.
“The regionals this season stands out,” Zrubek said. “As it was great to see some of my fellow teammates have great games, and due to those games, they were some of the individuals that got to represent our team as individuals at state.”
