Salina Central’s Mallory & Addison Renfro – Athlete Spotlight Presented By Salina Tech

By Hayden Swope

Salina Central’s tennis duo, Mallory and Addison Renfro, are back for their junior year, and plan to repeat their successes from last season. After a regional team win, and placing ninth at state, the Renfros are off to a great start with a winning record.

Both girls spent the offseason playing the game they love, getting ready to take on a tough schedule for the fall season.

“I prepared for the season by playing in tournaments and getting the opportunity to play in the USTA Junior Team Tennis Tournament Series, which was a great experience,” Addison said. “Our goal this season is to get better every single day and win every tournament we play in.”

While the season is just getting started, Mallory is excited to see what they get to accomplish this season.

“I prepared for the season by working out and practicing with my dad,” Mallory said. “I am focused on improving each day and in every tournament I play in as well as helping our team get better.”

Both Mallory and Addison are involved in numerous clubs and activities throughout the high school at Salina Central.

“I qualified for the state track in the 3200 meter race this past spring, and I also do FCA,” Mallory said.

“I run long distance in track, and do StuCo,” Addison said.

Mallory and Addison also both hope to play tennis at a higher level after high school.
