McPherson’s Karter Alvord – Call of the Wild, Athlete Spotlight Presented By Commercial Tire

By Hayden Swope

McPherson’s Karter Alvord has been involved in numerous high school sports over her four years as a Bullpup. The three-sport athlete was a first team all-league athlete in both basketball and softball.

“I’ve played basketball for four years, softball for four years, volleyball for two years, and been involved in KAY Club for three years,” Alvord said.

Alvord was one of the leaders for the basketball team, as they practiced and conditioned together over the offseason.

“We had Saturday morning shootarounds, so getting in the gym with the girls and getting better together is how we all prepared,” Alvord said.

With the excitement of getting to play in the state championship last season, Alvord has been looking forward to this year’s journey. Looking at the long season ahead, Alvord and the Lady Bullpups have big aspirations for the year.

“We have four main goals before the season every year,” Alvord said. “Win League, our home tournament, substate, and make it to Saturday at the State tournament.”

Alvord’s love of sports has grown over the years, and she doesn’t plan to stop that now. After high school Alvord will continue her softball journey at the next level.

“I plan to go play softball at Barton Community College,” Alvord said. “I will be majoring in business.”
