With a record of 13-2-1 through the first 15 games of new head Kristi Froese’s tenure, the Teutons have been firing on all cylinders.

Froese was the junior high head coach and assistant for nine years.

The new head coach isn’t new to head coaching, as she is married to the boys basketball coach, Brett Froese, who has helped sculpt her coaching style a little bit.

“As a first year head coach, I am not sure what my style is just yet,” Froese said. “We do work hard in our practices and I try to keep kids disciplined to stay on task. Mind you, we still have fun.”

The Teutons finished fourth at the state tournament last year and have every plan on finishing better this year.

Returning senior setter Kambrey Woods, senior middle Chloe Schmidt, sophomore outside hitter Suttyn Harris were all-league players a year ago. Stepping up as well is outside hitter Kenna Woods who has a deadly consistent serve as well as attacking ability. To finish up their rotation the Froese’s, in sophomore middle Morgan Froese, and freshman setter Taylor Froese have really come onto the scene well as the season has progressed.

After a good start and a long win streak, the Teutons dropped two tough games in their tournament, but haven’t withered from their end goal.

“I think we are staying focused on simply improving and getting better as a team and that is being seen game to game,” Froese said. “We learned a lot from our two losses and we know that is only going to help make us a threat come late in the season.”
