Concordia’s Charlize Cash – Poll Winner Presented By Visit Wichita

By Hayden Swope

Concordia’s Charlize Cash is a three-sport athlete, and with basketball season approaching, Cash is locked in to her winter sport. Cash was a first team all-league and honorable mention all-state athlete last season.

Preparation for the season starts with the first day of practice, and some training outside of school ball as well.

“I work hard everyday in practice and give my 100 percent in drills,” Cash said. “I also shoot and work on dribbling outside of practice. I am always trying to work on my confidence and leadership skills.”

While the physical aspects are on her mind, Cash’s biggest goal is to become a better mentor and leader for her team, and lead them as far as they can go.

“My goals are to become a better leader and for our team to make it past the first round of

Substate,” Cash said. “I would also like for our team to go .500 on the year.”

Cash’s favorite basketball moment includes a game winning shot that she got to celebrate with her teammates.

“My favorite memory was beating Clay Center in overtime with a last second shot by a teammate,” Cash said.

With big plans after high school, Cash hopes to continue her athletic career.

“I want to go to college and play basketball somewhere, and one day open up my own business,” Cash said.
