Collegiate’s Jacob Chappell – Poll Winner Presented By Salina Tech

By Hayden Swope

Wichita Collegiate’s Jacob Chappell put everything on the line last season, and it showed when he was named a second team all-league linebacker. Chappell is ready for the season, including a game against a longtime rival.

“The thing I’m most excited about this season is going to be the Andale game,” Chappell said. “It has to be the biggest build-up out of every game of the season, and it’s always exciting to put our best 11 against their best 11.”

Chappell has been preparing for the first game in September all summer, and has been training with multiple coaches, trainers, and athletes to better his skills.

“As far as preparation in the offseason, I have been a part of every summer football training in the weight room and other activities along with personal training working on myself as an individual,” Chappell said.

While working and conditioning over the offseason, Chappell had one big improvement in mind.

“The biggest focus during the offseason has been getting faster and quicker because every second and tenth of a second matter,” Chappell said.

Chappell’s goals for season don’t only include adding onto his accolades, they also include helping the team make it far into the postseason.

“My team goal for us this year is to make it to game three in the playoffs,” Chappell said. “My individual goal is to lead the team in tackles for the second year in a row.”

After high school, Chappell plans to attend K-State to continue his education.

“As far as college I would like to continue my academic career at Kansas State University studying engineering,” Chappell said.
