Beloit’s Noah Gerstner – Athlete Spotlight Presented By KD94 Country, Z96.3 The Lake, & NCKS Sports

By Hayden Swope

Noah Gerstner of Beloit means all business this season, as this is his final season. The all-league honorable mention basketball player is ready and hungry to step out on the court.

“My goals for this season are all about winning,” Gerstner said. “I am not worried about my personal stats, I just want to win. I want to win our league, win our sub-state, and of course the ultimate goal is to win state also. In my first three years we have not made state so it would be really fun to go on a state run this year.”

The offseason was a lot of training and conditioning for Gerstner, as he steps into a few new  positions this season.

“I prepared for the season by getting lots of shots up on the shooting guns that we have,” Gerstner said. “I have spent a lot of time working on ball handling as well so I can comfortably make the transition from shooting guard to point guard this season. The weaknesses that I have focused on improving are ball handling, most importantly, and I have tried to develop a good one dribble pull-up as well.”

Like the rest of his team, a big win at the annual tournament has been Gerstner’s favorite basketball memory.

“My favorite basketball memory is by far beating Colby at the Colby Tournament last year,” Gerstner said. “At the time, I believe they were top three in 3A and nobody expected us to win that game except us. It was a great experience because it was the loudest environment I have ever played in and we beat them on their home court. It was the most competitive game I have ever played in and was just an overall great experience that I will always remember.”
