Beloit’s Benson Berndt – Hog Wild Prep Performance of the Month

Benson Berndt of Beloit was chosen as the Hog Wild Performer of the Month for August. Berndt was a first team all-league and all-state running back last season, where he rushed for over 1,800 yards and 25 touchdowns.

“I feel my strongest strength as a player is my vision to see the field as a running back,” Berndt said. “As far as a weakness, I would like to have more speed, which has been one of my main focuses to improve. I utilize my strength by being patient and following my offensive line. They do a great job of opening up holes for our ball carriers.”

The Trojans reached the 2A title game a year ago and Berndt hopes his effort and leadership can get his team back there again. He understands to take nothing for granted along the journey of his senior season.

“My expectations for this coming season is to be a hard worker (on and off the field) and to be a good senior leader,” Berndt said. “My expectations for my team are to work together to achieve winning a state title game. One thing I took away from last season, is that any play could be your last play. We had a lot of injuries and worked through a lot of adversity. Most people did not expect us to make it to state, but we worked hard as a team and used each other’s strengths.”
