Sacred Heart’s Izeyiah Rodriguez –
“Visit Salina Winning Edge” Player of the Month – Presented by Visit Salina

Sacred Heart senior Izeyiah Rodriguez was introduced to the game of football in the eighth grade when most of his teammates already had a few years under their belts. Rodriguez was a quick learner, and it did not take long for him to fall in love with the sport.

“I have played football since my eighth-grade year and the things I love the most about the game is playing defense making big stops, the fans, and the teamwork aspect of the game,” said Rodriguez.

Now a fullback and outside linebacker for the Knights, Rodriguez has grown and developed into one of the top players in the area. His skill set has continued to improve and now as a senior, Rodriguez looks to lead his team to a great season. “I feel like my catching has gotten better, my knowledge of the game, and my techniques at my positions have all improved this off-season,” said Rodriguez. “I love the chemistry I’ve developed with my teammates and coaches, and I love how my team is all hardworking and trying to get better every day.”

Playing for Sacred Heart is something special to Rodriguez. Also a tennis player, Rodriguez loves to compete and represent his school. “Going out there playing for Sacred Heart and God is what makes being a student-athlete special, you play for more than your team,” said Rodriguez.
